Yeah guys wazzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(?). Your gonna be happy with me because this blog post is gonna be a lot of my opinion and bloggy stuff instead of some of that and a lot of describing the plot like I normally do. So in this reading period Ford Prefect (his last name always reminds me of "Perfect") went to go talk to the captain of the ship they were on (I'm gonna call him cap because I'm not sure if he was number 1 and if I go to check I'll have to leave this page) about how Ford and Arthur found out they were on earth. Now when he goes to do that, cap and his surviving people were having an annual meeting while he was in a hot spring (his second bathtub) talking about what they have are going to accomplish. So Ford overheard what they were talking about and jumped in. Now this part is where Douglas Adams really shows off the way he goes on and on about things that aren't very relevant (except in this situation) but does it in a way that is funny and very entertaining. So Ford and cap go on and on about how the things cap and his people have done as the crowd cheers at anything and everything possible because they are so bored. Now here is something that I saw that I thought was a sneaky and hard to notice move: the crowd started out just cheering at anything that sounded exciting just for excitement, making you believe they aren't a very relevant thing in the conversation, but are merely just for laughs. Now here he actually had to make the argument over Ford and cap long because every time something excited, or worth cheering to according to the crowd, the crowd would cheer harder, gradually cheering louder and longer. They reached a point where when cap or his assistant (who was more involved in the argument at hand than cap was) would make a comeback, the crowd wouldn't be cheering on the trio, they would be cheering on the cap and his assistant (who by now was pretty pissed) and basically making fun of Ford. Ford, being a fast-paced man, just gave up and told them that in two million years they would be completely wiped out, because as History happened on the old earth, it took two million years for man to be made, and the cavemen that Ford and Arthur saw earlier were going to be the men. But since there were no humans who liked baths and had futuristic guns and ships, that must mean they are going to die off. But as Ford and Arthur later found out, the cavemen had already beat the bath people (that's what I'm calling the people led by cap) to it, for they were already dying off (I know this is taking a while but I'm almost done). But Arthur wasn't giving up and tried to play Scrabble with the cavemen to speed up evolution but it didn't work (no duh!). But (now in this sentence I give you an intense cliffhanger for you and me because right when I read up to this part, reading time was over! And it's the last chapter of the book!!!) one of the cavemen.........was pounding on the letters with his fist.........while Arthur and Ford were talking.........but then they got annoyed.........so they checked out what he was up to............and they looked over his shoulder........and saw.....spelled out..........in the letters Arthur was using for Scrabble........was two words...........two very very VERY important words.......and those words........were.........f...o...r...t...y...-...t...w...o.......DUN DUN DUN CLIFFHANGER (forty-two is the answer to life, the universe, and everything if you remember from the first book)!!!
